Slurry Oil Metal Crossflow Filtration System

Fluid catalytic cracking(FCC) is one of the most important conversion process for making heavy oil lighter in petroleum chemical engineering field. With the continuous exploitation of oil, there has been an increase in heavy components within crude oil, resulting a higher production of slurry oil, which accounts for 5~10% of the total amount of crude oil and contains high content solid catalyst content, along with lots of poly-cyclic aromatic hydrocarbon. Slurry oil can be utilized for various purposes, such as producing carbon black, rubber filing oil, blending marine fuel oil, residual oil hydrogenation back refining, carbon fiber raw materials, etc. However the solid content in slurry oil must be strictly controlled. Therefor controlling the solid content in slurry oil is crucial as it significantly impacts the subsequent reprocessing of the oil.

For high solid content, high viscosity, high colloid, high asphaltene and other characteristics of slurry oil, traditional methods such as sedimentation, electrostatics separation, centrifugal separation and dead-end filtration are unable to meet the requirements of long-term stability, high removal rate and high efficiency in industrial production. With continuous testing and development, we, Shinkai, have developed a metal cross flow filtration system #Sliqu-Cfilter specifically designed for slurry oil, which can continuously filter out low solid content oil(≤50 ppm, with a the minimum of about 10 ppm), increasing the feasibility of further processing and expanding the application field of slurry oil, providing enterprises a shortcut to increasing efficiency. Additionally concentrated slurry oil can also be used for the return of catalytic lift pipe, coking blending, re-separation to obtain catalyst dry residue and sale of inferior fuel oil , etc.

This metal crossflow filtration system adopts tangential flow, from an inside-out filtration mode. Slurry oil filtered through a metal film, while solid contents being intercepted and circulated to concentrate, achieving the purpose of separation and concentration. The filter element of this metal crossflow filtration system is metal powder sintered filter element, which is developed, deigned and manufactured by Shinkai. The outer diameter around OD19 mm to OD25 mm, micron grade could reach to 0.1 micron (100nm), maximum length to 3 meters. Metal filter element has the advantages of high temperature resistance, temperature difference resistance, high accuracy, impact resistance, long service life, high porosity and suitable for long cycle operation in refining and chemical industry, etc.

The discharge quality of metal cross flow filtration system is not affected by the solid content, colloid and asphaltene content of the feed. The discharge of filtered slurry oil and concentrated slurry oil are continuous and stable, with filter element uneasy plugged, low blow back frequency. The system has been successfully applied in large domestic refineries, fully meeting the design requirements of solid content in filtered slurry oil, filtration flux and blow back frequency, etc.
