Porous Fluidized Plate in Pulverized Coal Injection(PCI) System Of Blast Furnaces

Pulverized coal injection (PCI) system of blast furnaces directly injects pulverized coal into the blast furnace from the air inlet to replace coke for heating and reduction purposes, thereby reducing the coke ratio and lowering the cost of pig iron. Up to now, the PCI system has made considerable progress. Blast furnaces that use injection for supplementary fuel have produced 90% of the world’s pig iron, among which 80% of the blast furnaces inject pulverized coal. This has significant economic and environmental benefits, representing a revolutionary breakthrough in modern blast furnace smelting and an indispensable means of modern blast furnace smelting.

Today, with the increasing demand for steel and the shortage of coke, the PCI system has even become a key technology that determines the competition between blast furnace ironmaking technology and other ironmaking technologies. The porous fluidization plate, as an important component in the PCI system, is directly related to the effect of pulverized coal injection and pulverized coal transportation. Pulverized coal injection will directly affect the coal injection ratio, which in turn influences the coke consumption and ironmaking cost. Meanwhile, pulverized coal transportation affects the powder-gas ratio, influencing the cost of pulverized coal injection equipment, energy consumption, the even distribution of gas and solid phases, and the accuracy of pulverized coal measurement.

We, Shinkai, independently developed, designed and manufactured the porous fluidized plate/ sheet, with high porosity, good air permeability, high strength, wear resistance and corrosion resistance and other characteristics. Customized products can be provided according to different working conditions, with substrates such as 316L, bronze, tungsten carbide, ceramics, and plastics. At present, the porous fluidized plates have been applied in the PCI system of a large foreign steelmaking enterprise. All performance parameter indicators meet the requirements, and the on-site operation status is good, which has been widely recognized.
